Koç University Support Center for the Disabled Children and Their Families (EÇADEM), a project supported by the Istanbul Development Agency and the Ministry of Development, is opened with a ceremony on 1 December 2014. The project and the Center are managed in collaboration with Sariyer Municipality and the Bosphorus Association for the Disabled. Sarıyer District Governor Gürsoy Osman Bilgin, Sarıyer Mayor Şükrü Genç and Koç University President Umran S. Inan were present in the event.
The main objective of the Koç University Support Center for the Disabled Children and Their Families is to support children with disabilities and provide relief to their families through its activities. EÇADEM further plans to raise public awareness about quality-of-life problems facing disabled children and their families.
EÇADEM provides services for disabled children, supporting the development of their self-caring skills. The project aims to promote these children’s cognitive, physical, psychological, as well as social development. On the other hand, the Center provides relief services to families of disabled children by trying to share their caring responsibilities.
